One of the greatest fears people face when diagnosed with mesothelioma is the fear of the unknown. When patients first learn they have mesothelioma they are left reeling, and it is rare that the patient will hear anything else, much less understand the challenges that lie ahead. There is so much information to take in and to act on, but it is critical that the patient clearly understands the impact of their decisions.
Many experts say that someone must hear new information at least three times before it actually registers. Still others believe hearing the information first then seeing it later is more effective.
Lisa Hyde-Barrett, a mesothelioma nurse knows how important it is to educate patients and to repeat that information often. And now she is teaming up with MesotheliomaHelp.net to provide a forum for patients to ask questions, and to capture the information on video for later viewing.
FREE, LIVE, “Ask the Nurse” Session
Join Lisa and her colleague, Eleanor Ericson, a nurse with over 30 years of experience, for a FREE, LIVE, question and answer session to give anyone an opportunity to ask questions about mesothelioma.
It’s easy! Connect via phone or internet to ask a mesothelioma nurse for information, feedback, or suggestions for managing your mesothelioma. Or just listen in to learn from the experts and your peers. Lisa and Ellie can be seen streaming via the internet while you can sit in the comfort of your home watching and interacting with them and the others listening in.
At the end of the session, the taped segment will be posted on-line so you can come back and view it as many times as you would like.
Mesothelioma is an aggressive and challenging disease to treat, but with quick action, education and by following doctor’s orders patients can experience relief from symptoms and may extend their survival.
Many factors can help determine survival for a patient, especially the treatment plan and the patient’s attitude. But making sure you get your questions answered so you can be comfortable with your care can make the difference.
Help Us Spread the Word
Please help us spread the word and let other mesothelioma patients and their families know there is a place they can turn to for answers to their questions about the disease.
This event is open to anyone, and is part of our ongoing commitment to support the mesothelioma community.
